Maritime
law is a cornerstone of the international trade of commodities in the UAE. This
industrial sector involves huge investments for ports facilities and
commitments for all operators.
Maritime
law in the UAE reflects most of the international conventions on the carriage
of goods by sea, arrest, collision and liens and mortgage. The UAE have
ratified most of the regulatory conventions on safety, pollution, etc. The
course shall offer an overview of how to deal with a maritime case.
This course will cover the following:
General presentation of international maritime law and its specific ruling organization
Overview of the main conventions and their implementation in the UAE
Relevant provisions of the Federal Law No. 26/1981 on Commercial Maritime Law and practical issues
Identification of the tools to handle a maritime issue
Case study of cargo claims and practical presentation of arrest of vessel in the UAE
- Prospective comments on the new commercial maritime law under discussion
